Welcome to NerdLifeCrisis!

Hopefully the catchy name of my blog caught your attention, and you are wondering what is NerdLifeCrisis? Before I answer that question, let me first introduce myself.

A nerd staring down the barrel of a mid-life crisis

I am a 30-something engineer with a passion for gaming, tech and gadgets. I started playing PC games at the age of 6 and I never stopped. Having played everything from chess, Magic the Gathering (with actual cards), to Pokémon and Dota, I see myself as somewhat of a veteran.

My parents encouraged me to be inquisitive, and allowed me to take apart anything I could get my hands on. Some might say I was born with ”The Knack”. They bought me Legos, Mechano sets and computers. They allowed me to play games until late at night and drove me to many a LAN-Party.

Today I am married, and see myself as a professional. I have a house, two dogs and I do my own taxes. In short, I am adulting hard. But my love for tech and gaming is still there. Sadly, most of my gaming time is spent on my cellphone, but that still counts, doesn’t it? And every now and then I treat myself to a new console or gaming laptop.

Although I still love spending time playing games, or fiddling with a new toy, I also love spending time with my wife. Along with this, I need to maintain my house, keep the garden in check and, oh yes, go to work…

So this brings us back to our initial question. What is NerdLifeCrisis?

A blog for older nerds

The heading kind of gives it away, but that is exactly what I want NerdLifeCrisis to be. The blog will be aimed at people in a similar situation to mine. People who love tech and gaming, but who are also professionals, trying to balance everything in their lives.

I will write reviews on all forms of gaming, from mobile to board games. I will also be writing opinion pieces on tech and just general stuff I find interesting. Every now and then I will also include my wife’s opinion on things I review. Because let’s face it, our better halves are also a crucial part of our lives, and if they enjoy something we are interested in, so much the better.

I know you are busy, so I will try to keep my articles short and not waste your time. I will look at things like finances and the cost of gaming and tech. Unfortunately our salaries are finite, and we can’t buy all the AAA titles we want. As I mentioned earlier, most of my gaming time is spent on mobile games, so that will most likely make out a large portion of my posts. I love mobile gaming, and unlike the rest of the internet, I am extremely excited about Diablo Immortal.

I hope you enjoy the content I create and that you find if insightful. If not, you are welcome to get in contact with me, or leave a comment on my posts.

Let me leave you with this nugget of gold I found.

All geniuses and greats are really just nerds with expereince

A.D. Posey

Cheers for now,

Alden
